Boca Juniors secured a 1-0 victory against River Plate in the Superclásico held at La Bombonera during the Torneo Clausura. The decisive moment of the match came when Lautaro Di Lollo scored with a header following a corner kick in the first half. The win allowed Boca to lock down a spot in the upcoming Copa Libertadores, sparking celebrations among players and fans.

The match was heavily impacted by early disciplinary actions, most notably when River defender Lucas Martínez Quarta was sent off just nine minutes into the contest. Following a VAR review, referee Nicolás Ramírez issued a direct red card to Martínez Quarta for pulling back Miguel Merentiel to deny an obvious goalscoring opportunity. The numerical disadvantage completely altered River's tactical approach for the remainder of the game.

Tensions boiled over late in the second half when River's Gonzalo Montiel received a straight red card for a harsh tackle on Lautaro Blanco at the 35-minute mark, leaving the visitors with just nine men on the field. Prior to his dismissal, Montiel had been booked earlier in the match and was at the center of several heated exchanges with the home crowd, later explaining that his gestures towards the stands were a response to being taunted.

Following the final whistle, River players and coaching staff voiced severe frustration regarding the officiating. Head coach Leonardo Ponzio criticized the referee and the video assistant referee system, arguing that the officiating lacked uniformity and disproportionately hurt his squad. "We wanted the refereeing and VAR to remain exempt from all of this, and it happens again that the VAR interferes in many cases, always against us, and in other cases it does not interfere," Ponzio stated in his post-match press conference.

River captain Nicolás Otamendi joined in the fierce criticism of the refereeing crew, claiming that his team was heavily conditioned throughout the ninety minutes. Otamendi pointed to several unpunished challenges and missed penalty appeals, expressing deep discontent with the current state of domestic soccer. "The refereeing did not measure anything with the same yardstick. They do not let you compete, that makes you very angry," Otamendi remarked.

Montiel echoed his teammates' grievances, highlighting what he perceived as double standards in disciplinary decisions during the fierce rivalry match. Comparing his expulsion to a similar challenge by Blanco that only drew a yellow card, Montiel noted that the referee lacked explanations for his choices. "It is not normal what happened today. Today it conditioned us and that is not normal," Montiel said.

Despite the heavy protests over officiating, Ponzio offered some internal critique regarding his team's execution on the pitch. The River manager admitted that playing a man down for the vast majority of the game made it extremely difficult to build dangerous offensive sequences or execute their initial game plan.

On the winning side, Boca players celebrated a vital triumph that not only highlights their strong campaign in the Torneo Clausura but also officially punches their ticket to continental competition. Midfielder Leandro Paredes expressed immense satisfaction with the team's intelligent performance in managing the game after gaining the numerical advantage, securing a historic result in front of their home supporters.
