Bengals Overcome Slow Start to Rout Ravens 35-13 Behind Joe Burrow
Cincinnati erased a 13-point halftime deficit with a dominant second-half explosion in Week 7.
The Cincinnati Bengals staged a remarkable second-half comeback to defeat the Baltimore Ravens 35-13 at M&T Bank Stadium in Week 7. After a sluggish start that left them trailing 13-0 at halftime, the Bengals completely turned the game around by scoring 35 unanswered points in the final two quarters.
During a dismal first half, the Cincinnati offense struggled significantly. Quarterback Joe Burrow completed just 6 of 12 passes for 43 yards, prompting sharp criticism from fans on social media who questioned his performance. However, the quarterback completely flipped the script after coming out of the locker room.
Burrow finished the game with 292 passing yards and four touchdowns, marking his second consecutive game with four scoring passes. Wide receiver Tee Higgins played a crucial role in the offensive revival, hauling in six receptions for 148 yards, including the go-ahead touchdown and a vital 44-yard catch in the fourth quarter.
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor drew immense praise for the dramatic turnaround. His halftime adjustments successfully sparked an offense that dominated the remainder of the contest while the defense completely shut down the Ravens and Tyler Huntley, allowing zero points in the second half.
Defensively, Cincinnati received major contributions from Boye Mafe, who tallied 1.5 sacks and consistent pressure, alongside rookie Cashius Howell, who secured the first sack of his career. The offensive line also excelled, effectively neutralizing pass rusher Trey Hendrickson and protecting Burrow throughout the second half.
While the visiting Bengals celebrated their fourth win of the year, the Ravens drew attention off the field for debuting their new all-purple uniform combination as part of their "Next Flight" redesign. Paired with their primary black helmet, the look featured varying shades of purple that prompted widespread mockery and criticism from NFL fans on social media.
Despite the disappointing first half and the early deficit, the Bengals secured a convincing victory that improved their season standing. Meanwhile, the Ravens fell to a 35-13 home loss after holding a 13-7 lead midway through the third quarter before Cincinnati's offensive explosion took over the game.
