Atlas secured a hard-fought 4-3 victory against Puebla during Week 14 of the Liga MX Apertura 2026 tournament at Estadio Jalisco. The high-scoring affair allowed the Guadalajara side to improve their position in the general standings, moving up into the top tier of the competition.

Entering the match, Atlas aimed to bounce back following a 5-2 defeat against Club América. That previous loss had left the team in sixth place with 21 points. Conversely, Puebla arrived at the stadium sitting in thirteenth place with 16 points, desperately searching for positive results to move away from the bottom of the table.

The action started immediately when Florián Monzón opened the scoring for Atlas in the first minute of the match. Puebla responded before the halftime break, with Luifer Hernández finding the back of the net in the 20th minute to level the score.

The second half delivered a flurry of goals and momentum shifts. An own goal by Jorge Sánchez in the 60th minute briefly put Puebla ahead, but Atlas quickly regained control. Kevin Zenón tied the game for the hosts in the 63rd minute.

Momentum firmly shifted to the home side as Jose Martin scored twice in quick succession, finding the net in the 68th and 79th minutes to extend the lead. Although Omar Moreno managed to score for Puebla in the 84th minute, Atlas successfully defended their advantage until the final whistle.

With this dramatic result, Atlas accumulated 24 points, lifting them to third place in the Liga MX standings. Meanwhile, Puebla remained static with 16 units, holding onto the thirteenth position as the regular season enters its decisive final stretch.

Looking ahead in the Apertura 2026 tournament, Atlas will hit the road to face San Luis on Friday, October 30. On the same day, Puebla will return home to host Pumas as both squads continue their respective campaigns.
