A violent home invasion occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, November 4, in the town of Tonneins, France, when a group of five armed individuals forced their way into a private residence. The incident, which took place around 1:00 a.m. on the Cours de la Marne, has prompted an immediate investigation by the Marmande gendarmerie’s research brigade.

The homeowner, identified as a 48-year-old man named Karim, reported that the attackers gained entry to his home by posing as law enforcement officers. He stated that he opened the door after seeing what appeared to be a blue police light through the window. Once inside, the masked assailants, dressed in black, reportedly assaulted the father and demanded access to a safe and gold jewelry, neither of which the family possessed.

During the confrontation, the attackers allegedly held the father at gunpoint and intimidated his wife and three children, aged 5, 11, and 13. The mother managed to escape through a window and alerted neighbors by calling for help. Karim described the encounter as a terrifying ordeal, noting that he sustained head injuries during the struggle when he attempted to resist the intruders.

As the suspects fled the scene, they reportedly fired several gunshots. Reports indicate that at least three to four shots were discharged, with projectiles striking the residence and a neighboring property. The suspects reportedly escaped in a high-powered German vehicle, described as an Audi RS3, which was seen driving in the wrong direction along the Cours de la Marne.

Tonneins Mayor Denis Bertolaso visited the family following the attack to offer support. The mayor condemned the violence, describing the incident as "inadmissible and intolerable." While the family was left deeply shaken by the event, officials confirmed that there were no life-threatening injuries reported, a detail the mayor emphasized as the most important outcome of the night.

Law enforcement officials have cordoned off the area to conduct forensic analysis and gather evidence. The investigation is currently in its early stages as authorities work to identify the suspects and determine the motive behind the attack. Investigators are looking into whether the perpetrators targeted the family based on a misconception regarding their financial assets. The gendarmerie has prioritized the case, calling for calm as they pursue the investigation.
