AJ Auxerre suffered a heavy 5-1 defeat away against Strasbourg during the ninth round of the Ligue 1 football season. The defensive collapse occurred across the end of the first half and the beginning of the second period, marking another difficult match on the road for the team.

Despite the loss, English striker Cameron Archer managed to score his sixth goal of the season for Auxerre. However, the strike served as little consolation as the team continued to concede multiple goals under the watchful eye of the club owner.

The starting lineup for AJ Auxerre featured Paul Nardi, Lamine Sy, Fredrik Oppegard, Axel Tuanzebe, Clément Akpa, Christ Makosso, Kévin Danois, Naouirou Ahamada, Romain Faivre, Danny Namaso, and Cameron Archer.

This latest setback follows a series of challenging away fixtures for Auxerre earlier in the season. The squad previously endured a 3-1 defeat against Lyon in the third round where the defense also struggled, as well as a 4-1 loss to Rennes after creating numerous early scoring chances.

On a brighter note for the club's campaign, Auxerre previously secured its first away victory of the season during the seventh round by defeating Le Havre 3-1. That match stood out as one of the few high points on the road before the team ran into trouble against Strasbourg.

The club also experienced a tough opening fixture against Lens, followed by another home disappointment against Angers at the end of August where they conceded three goals. Auxerre will need to address its defensive vulnerabilities as the Ligue 1 season progresses.
