WWE legend Ric Flair was hospitalized on Friday, October 23, after suffering a fall outside a restaurant in Tampa, Florida. The 77-year-old retired professional wrestling star sustained injuries to his face and head during the incident, which occurred just hours after he announced the cancellation of an upcoming fan convention appearance due to a medical condition.

According to reports, the accident took place outside a Wagamama restaurant in Tampa. Witnesses and emergency reports indicated that Flair took a tumble after walking across the street, leaving his phone and drink behind. Photographs captured by media outlets showed emergency medical personnel treating the wrestling icon on the ground before loading him into an ambulance to be transported to a local hospital.

The medical emergency unfolded only a short time after Flair shared a lengthy statement on social media on Friday morning. He apologized to his agent and fans for canceling his scheduled trip to Seattle, explaining that he was dealing with a blood clot in his leg. He noted that his physicians had restricted his travel limits to a maximum of three to four hours.

Emphasizing the severity of his condition, Flair compared his situation to recent health complications experienced by professional athletes, such as Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts, whose football campaign was affected by blood clots in his lungs. "Blood clots are extremely serious and can be life-threatening," Flair wrote online, adding that he needed to prioritize his health and follow strict medical advice.

Flair also shared that he is scheduled to undergo a procedure to strip the affected vein, a treatment doctors hope will allow him to resume traveling and meet future work commitments. Despite the alarming circumstances of his hospitalization, family members quickly moved to reassure concerned fans regarding his status.

His daughter, fellow WWE wrestler Charlotte Flair, took to social media on Saturday, October 24, to share an update on her father's recovery with a touch of humor. "Not my dad telling the doctor he fell bc of warrior dropping him on his head," she wrote on X, before confirming, "ps: he's going to be ok."

Flair himself later reached out to supporters from the hospital, posting an image showing him wearing an eye patch taped over his right eye. In his message, he thanked the medical staff for their care and expressed gratitude to his fans for their outpouring of support. "I am focused on my healing and recovery right now," Flair stated. "I will be okay!"
