Winning Design Chosen for New Residential Quarter in Wallau
A collaborative planning team featuring firms from Dossenheim, Heidelberg, and Limburgerhof has won the architectural competition for the former Ländcheshalle site.
A major milestone has been reached for urban development near Wiesbaden with the selection of the winning design for a new residential quarter in the Hofheim district of Wallau. The municipal competition focused on the approximately 8,100-square-meter area of the former Ländcheshalle, which is slated primarily for modern multi-story housing to help address pressing local demand.
The architectural and landscape planning competition served as the foundational basis for the upcoming sale of the municipal property. A high-profile expert jury, consisting largely of architects and urban planners, evaluated the submissions and ultimately awarded first place to a collaborative team.
The winning proposal was submitted by CONCEPTAPLAN GmbH from Dossenheim, working in partnership with ap88 Architektur Partnerschaft mbB from Heidelberg and hofmann_röttgen LANDSCHAFTSARCHITEKTEN BDLA from Limburgerhof. The jury praised the team for delivering a compelling solution that fully met the competition guidelines.
The jury stated in their evaluation that the work presented very high living qualities and attractive apartment layouts paired with appealing open-space designs to create a vibrant residential location. They noted that the development blends well into the surrounding neighborhood while offering new community-oriented amenities for local residents, alongside strong marketability and feasibility.
Second place in the competition was awarded to STRABAG Real Estate Invest GmbH from Cologne, which teamed up with Karl Dudler Architekten from Frankfurt am Main and the local planning firm Desor plan D Ingenieure PartG from Wiesbaden.
Members of the public will have the opportunity to view the detailed plans, visualizations, and scale models of all entries up close. An exhibition featuring the competition submissions will open to the public on Monday, October 26, and run through Saturday, October 31.
The exhibition is being held in Room 4 at the Hofheim town hall annex. Visitors can access the exhibition space through the side entrance located near the Richard-Zorn-Weg between the town hall and the gas station.
