A broad coalition of labor unions, public and private sector employees, students, and yellow vest coordinators have called for a major interprofessional day of action and strikes across France. The mobilization aims to address mounting concerns over the high cost of living, growing social precarity, and the government's proposed budgetary choices.

The movement brings together major union organizations, including the CFDT, CGT, FO, UNSA, and FSU. In the Alpes-Maritimes region, demonstrations are scheduled in Nice and Cannes, with protesters gathering at the respective SNCF train stations. In La Réunion, multiple rallies are planned in Saint-Denis and Saint-Pierre, as workers unite against declining purchasing power and inadequate public funding.

Protesters are explicitly targeting the government's draft budget, which includes substantial spending cuts. Union representatives have criticized policies such as the freezing of civil servant index points, the de-indexation of pensions, and reductions in housing assistance. Across various sectors, participants are demanding sustainable wage increases and improved working conditions to keep pace with rising costs for fuel, food, rent, gas, and electricity.

The public services sector anticipates severe disruptions. Education personnel, including teachers and staff in public and private schools, have joined the strike calls. Early childhood professionals, represented by groups like the SNPPE, are mobilizing to protest against insufficient remuneration, staff shortages, and deteriorating working conditions in nurseries and childcare facilities.

Public transport networks will also experience significant impacts. Urban transport unions have called on workers to join the movement, while national rail and air traffic services prepare for adjusted schedules as strike notices take effect. Additional sectors, such as healthcare, banking, insurance, telecommunications, and postal services, have reported widespread participation.

In addition to traditional union demands, the yellow vest movement has announced plans to extend the mobilization. Organizers are calling for rolling strikes and local blockades following the Thursday demonstrations, looking toward nationwide protests over the upcoming weekend under the banner of 'real equality.'

Local authorities and public institutions are bracing for high turnout in city centers as demonstrators converge to voice their opposition to current economic policies. While organizers emphasize peaceful rallies and the convergence of various social struggles, authorities remain vigilant regarding potential disruptions to public transit and urban infrastructure throughout the day.
