Wide Receiver Brandon Aiyuk Files Paperwork for 49ers Reinstatement
The wide receiver has applied to return to the San Francisco 49ers after missing more than two years due to a knee injury and a departure late last season.
Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has officially applied to be reinstated to the San Francisco 49ers from the reserve/left squad list and intends to rejoin the team later this week. The paperwork has been submitted to the NFL, according to his new agent, Drew Rosenhaus.
Aiyuk has not played in an NFL game for more than two years. He suffered a serious knee injury in October 2024 and subsequently spent time on the reserve/left squad list after leaving the franchise late last season.
Rosenhaus confirmed that the receiver is planning to report back to the San Francisco facility on Friday. The move marks a significant step toward a potential return to the field for the veteran pass catcher.
The 49ers have navigated significant roster adjustments during Aiyuk's prolonged absence, but his application to return provides the team with a potential reinforcement as the season progresses.
Neither team officials nor Aiyuk's representatives have released further details regarding his conditioning regimen or a timeline for when he might be cleared for full football activities following his lengthy rehabilitation process.
