Yaxel Lendeborg scored 31 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead the Golden State Warriors to a 134-114 victory over the Denver Nuggets on Monday night in Denver, securing the team's first win of the season. The dominant performance from the rookie out of Michigan helped the Warriors avoid starting a season 0-4 for the first time since the 2007-08 campaign.

The Warriors shot 54.1% from the field, including 22 of 44 from 3-point range, and outrebounded Denver 50-36. Stephen Curry contributed 24 points, scoring 21 of them in the second half while shooting a perfect 8 of 8 from the floor to help Golden State steadily pull away. Brandin Podziemski also added 18 points in the winning effort.

Lendeborg's standout night earned high praise from his veteran teammates and coaches. Stephen Curry described the first-year forward as "the full package," while Warriors head coach Steve Kerr called his advanced abilities "extremely rare" for a rookie and noted that he will be part of the closing lineup. Lendeborg remarked on his performance after the game, saying, "Especially this game. I had 13 free throws. That's crazy. That's absurd for me."

According to NBA.com, Lendeborg became the first rookie since Larry Bird in the 1979-80 season to record at least 70 points, 30 rebounds, and 15 assists in his first four career games. Reports also noted he is the first Warriors rookie to score at least 87 points in his first four games since Wilt Chamberlain in 1959.

Nikola Jokic led the Nuggets with 19 points, seven rebounds, and 11 assists before being subbed out with 3:33 remaining in the fourth quarter as Denver trailed by 21 points. DeMar DeRozan also added 21 points for the hosts, who allowed 74 points after halftime and saw some fans file out early.

Frustrations boiled over for the Nuggets in the fourth quarter when forward Aaron Gordon was assessed a double-technical foul and ejected from the game. Gordon finished with seven points in 25 minutes of play after protesting a foul called on teammate Christian Braun during a Warriors possession.

The Nuggets played without several key players, including Alpha Diallo, Cameron Johnson, Spencer Jones, and Julian Strawther, leaving them shorthanded as they look ahead. Denver will seek its second win of the campaign on Wednesday night against the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Warriors will also return to action on Wednesday night, traveling to face the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center as they look to build on their newly found momentum.
