Spurs Blow Out Winless Kings 130-103 Behind Wembanyama and Record First Half

San Antonio built an insurmountable 80-54 lead before halftime to send Sacramento to an 0-4 start.

Victor Wembanyama scored 29 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in just 27 minutes as the San Antonio Spurs dismantled the Sacramento Kings 130-103 on Tuesday night at Frost Bank Center. The dominant performance marked San Antonio's second consecutive victory, while extending Sacramento's dismal start to the season and keeping the Kings winless through four games.

San Antonio set the tone on the very first play from scrimmage, as former Kings point guard De'Aaron Fox connected with Wembanyama on an alley-oop dunk. From that moment forward, the Spurs engineered a historic offensive clinic. The hosts erupted for 80 points in the opening two quarters to construct an 80-54 lead at the break, establishing league season highs for points, assists with 23, and three-pointers with 13 in a single half.

Spurs reserve Julian Champagnie fueled the perimeter barrage, converting an astounding eight three-pointers in the first half alone. Champagnie paced all scorers before the intermission with 24 points and finished the night with 26 points in 25 minutes of action. Wembanyama contributed 23 points in the first half, capping off the team's electric 60 percent shooting from the field with a buzzer-beating tip-in right before the buzzer.

The Spurs' dominance extended well beyond long-range shooting. San Antonio dismantled Sacramento's transition defense to compile 29 fastbreak points and overpowered the interior with 60 points in the paint. Six Spurs players scored in double figures, with Stephon Castle adding 15 points, Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson recording 14 points each, Dylan Harper chipping in 13, and Fox finishing with 11 against his former squad.

Sacramento offered little resistance defensively, surrendering at least 121 points for the fourth consecutive outing. However, the Kings saw strong offensive contributions from their starting core. De'Andre Hunter posted a team-high 24 points along with six rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block while sinking five triples. Zach LaVine poured in 22 points, Domantas Sabonis recorded 20 points, 14 rebounds, and eight assists, and rookie Darius Acuff Jr. added 19 points.

Depth continues to be a glaring liability for Sacramento, whose reserves managed only 14 points on Tuesday. Over four games, the Kings' bench has contributed only 89 total points, an average of 22.3 points per game that ranks below last season's league-worst bench production. Malik Monk struggled in his third game back, scoring only three points on 1-of-7 shooting, though he distributed six assists. Sacramento was further hampered by injuries, playing without Keegan Murray, Maxime Raynaud, Dylan Cardwell, and Sean Pedulla, while Ben Simmons is sidelined for the season.

San Antonio never let Sacramento back into contention, holding at least a 23-point advantage throughout the third quarter and carrying a 107-80 edge into the final frame. The Spurs now head to Salt Lake City to complete a back-to-back slate against the Utah Jazz on Wednesday. The Kings will travel to New Orleans to take on the Pelicans, seeking to capture their elusive first victory before a grueling stretch featuring games against Memphis, Dallas, the Los Angeles Lakers, and San Antonio again.
