Severe Weather Alerts Issued Across Multiple Regions for Heavy Rain and Gales
Meteorological agencies issue heavy rainfall and high wind warnings affecting numerous states and counties.
Weather authorities have issued severe weather alerts across multiple regions, warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and powerful wind gusts expected to impact numerous areas. In India, the India Meteorological Department has issued warnings for 19 states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, where wind speeds could reach up to 80 kilometers per hour. Meanwhile, in Ireland, local authorities have prepared for Storm Boelo, which is set to bring gale-force winds and coastal flooding.
The unfolding weather patterns are driven by distinct meteorological phenomena across different regions. In South Asia, a low-pressure area is developing over the east-central Bay of Bengal alongside a fresh western disturbance affecting northwestern India and a developing cyclonic circulation over the southwestern Bay of Bengal. These systems are expected to cause widespread rainfall and thunderstorms.
In Delhi and surrounding districts, moderate to heavy rainfall is anticipated alongside winds blowing at 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. Maximum temperatures in the capital are forecasted to reach 32 degrees Celsius, with minimums hovering around 18 degrees Celsius. Several districts in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand are also bracing for stormy conditions that could disrupt local travel and agricultural activities.
Hill states and northwestern regions, including Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, are preparing for sharp temperature drops and strong winds ranging between 40 and 50 kilometers per hour. In Manali, temperatures are expected to plummet significantly, with daytime highs reaching 4 degrees Celsius and lows dropping below freezing to minus 4 degrees Celsius. Agricultural experts have warned that standing crops in several affected states are vulnerable to weather-related damage.
Simultaneously, severe weather is approaching parts of Ireland with the arrival of Storm Boelo. Met Éireann issued a Status Orange wind warning for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo, and Sligo, predicting gale-force westerly winds and severe gusts. The warning is scheduled to remain in effect from the afternoon through the following morning, with officials warning of potential power outages, structural damage, and high flood risks in coastal zones.
A Status Yellow rain warning has also been activated for Ireland, signaling difficult travel conditions and potential localized flooding. Additionally, marine warnings have been put in place, with storm-force winds expected along coastal waters. Donegal County Council activated its Severe Weather Assessment Team, closing specific parking areas like the Donegal Town Pier Car Park during high tides and anticipated storm surges.
Emergency management officials in all affected regions have urged residents to exercise extreme caution. Authorities advise the public to secure outdoor items, avoid driving through flooded roadways, stay clear of coastal edges and swollen waterways, and closely monitor official weather updates as conditions continue to evolve.
