Actress and singer Serena Autieri is relocating temporarily to Milan as she prepares to star in the Italian stage adaptation of Moulin Rouge! The Musical. Directed by Massimo Romeo Piparo and based on the acclaimed film by Baz Luhrmann, the large-scale production moves to the Sistina Chapiteau in Sesto San Giovanni following a successful run in Rome.

Autieri takes on the starring role of Satine, performing alongside Luca Gaudiano, who plays Christian. The rigorous schedule requires intense physical stamina, featuring three-hour performances, live orchestration, and rapid costume changes. Reflecting on the demanding production, Autieri noted the intense pace, stating that once she nearly had to go on half-dressed due to a tight wardrobe change.

The move marks a significant lifestyle shift for the artist, who is natively from Naples and has long been based in Rome. While her daughter remains in Rome to continue high school, Autieri is establishing a temporary home in Milan to remain close to the theater. She has received assistance from her close friend and television personality Michelle Hunziker, who has helped her navigate the city and provided local contacts.

Given the winter timing and the vocal demands of the role, Autieri maintains strict precautions to protect her health. She explained that her primary concern is avoiding illness, noting that she takes vitamins, stays warmly dressed, and wears a face mask in public spaces to protect her vocal cords from any potential infections during the grueling performance schedule.

In addition to her vocal preparation, the actress maintains a specific morning workout routine known as girotonic, requiring her to find housing near specialized fitness facilities. Her dedication to fitness and discipline has earned her a playful nickname from Hunziker, who reportedly calls her the "General" because of her rigorous approach to exercise and mountain hiking.

The Milan engagement will run through the winter season, including holiday performances, offering local audiences the chance to experience the bohemian atmosphere of Montmartre. Autieri expressed admiration for the local audience, noting that the city's demanding and fast-paced environment matches her own professional drive as she prepares for the opening performances.
