School Administrators Targeted with Fireworks in Essonne High Schools
Incidents involving fireworks occurred amid student protests at two high schools in Essonne, prompting a brief lockdown.
School administrators were targeted with commercial fireworks on Tuesday during student protests at two high schools located in Essonne, according to information provided by the academy rectorate of Versailles.
The disturbances took place at the Les-Frères-Moreau high school in Quincy-sous-Sénart and the Robert-Doisneau high school in Corbeil-Essonnes, as students mobilized across the area.
At the Quincy-sous-Sénart facility, the initial incident occurred at approximately 8:20 in the morning. Fireworks were discharged directly toward the principal, staff members from the academic center for school support, mobile security teams from the rectorate, and the regional security brigade of the Île-de-France region.
A secondary series of fireworks was launched inside the same building later that morning around 11:25. Law enforcement was called back to the scene to handle the escalating situation.
As a precautionary measure, the rectorate confirmed that a specific safety protocol and lockdown plan was triggered to ensure the protection of all students and staff members present. The confinement measures were lifted fifteen minutes later following coordination with local law enforcement officers.
Meanwhile, at the Robert-Doisneau high school in Corbeil-Essonnes, approximately forty students attempted to set up a blockade. During this demonstration, fireworks were directed at the principal, the deputy principal, and the prevention and security assistant.
The rectorate noted that one administrator required medical attention from the school nurse due to the close proximity of the explosive blast.
The academy rectorate strongly condemned these hostile acts. The Departmental Services Directorate of National Education reached out to the affected administrators to offer institutional backing, psychological support resources, and assistance in filing formal criminal complaints. Disciplinary procedures will be initiated against the perpetrators once they are officially identified.
