Rookie Nate Boerkircher Scores Longest Touchdown in Jaguars Win
The former Texas A&M tight end recorded a 31-yard score during Jacksonville's dominant 42-7 victory over the Indianapolis Colts.
Jacksonville Jaguars rookie tight end Nate Boerkircher continued to expand his role in the team's offense on Sunday, scoring his second career touchdown in a 42-7 blowout win over the Indianapolis Colts at EverBank Stadium. The victory improved the Jaguars' record to 5-2 as they maintain control of the AFC South.
Boerkircher connected with quarterback Trevor Lawrence for a 31-yard touchdown reception midway through the second quarter, extending the Jacksonville lead to 14-0. The play marked the longest catch of the season for the rookie tight end, as well as his first career scoring play covering more than a single yard.
Selected by the Jaguars in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft with the 56th overall pick, Boerkircher initially entered the professional ranks primarily as a blocker behind starting tight end Brenton Strange. However, he has steadily grown more involved in the team's passing attack, setting a franchise milestone as the first rookie tight end in team history to record touchdown catches in back-to-back weeks.
His first career touchdown came on October 18 during a 34-31 loss to the Houston Texans, when he hauled in a one-handed, one-yard pass from Lawrence. With his latest performance against Indianapolis, Boerkircher has elevated his season totals to 83 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
The Jaguars' offense dominated throughout the afternoon, accumulating 366 total yards. Lawrence completed 10 of 14 passes for 210 yards and three touchdowns before being pulled early in the fourth quarter. Additional offensive highlights included running back Bhayshul Tuten, who rushed for a career-high 104 yards and a touchdown while adding 55 receiving yards and another score.
Jacksonville's defense also contributed significantly to the rout, highlighted by safety Rayuan Lane III intercepting a pass from Daniel Jones and returning it 92 yards for a pick-six just before halftime to give the hosts a 28-0 advantage. The win extends Jacksonville's dominant home streak against Indianapolis, keeping the Colts winless in Jacksonville since 2014.
