Prince William and Kate Middleton Proposed Family Reunion for Prince Harry and Meghan
Royal outreach aims to bring the Sussex and Wales families together, though no concrete plans have been established yet.
Prince William and Kate Middleton have suggested that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle bring Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet across the Atlantic for a family reunion. The reported outreach is aimed at putting the young cousins under one roof, according to royal commentator Tom Quinn.
The proposal reportedly came ahead of Prince Harry's recent visit to London for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. That timing highlighted the ongoing distance within the family, as Harry traveled to the United Kingdom for a milestone service at St. Paul’s Cathedral while Meghan remained in California, and King Charles was unable to meet him due to a busy official schedule.
Although the outreach exists, Quinn noted that the idea has not yet led to a meeting, a concrete plan, or a shared timetable. The dynamic follows years of strain since Harry and Meghan stepped back from their senior royal roles in 2020 and established their household in Montecito, California. Subsequent memoirs and broadcast interviews further widened the public divide between the relatives.
Despite the ongoing tensions, there have been brief moments of softening between the households. Following Kate Middleton’s cancer diagnosis announcement in March 2024, Harry and Meghan released a public statement expressing their support. They stated, "We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace."
Harry has also expressed a renewed appreciation for his ties to Britain, noting the significance of potentially having his children attend a British school. He remarked that he "didn’t know how important it was" to him, giving the reunion idea deeper personal meaning regarding the future shape of the family relationship.
While the latest outreach indicates communication between the households, a practical path back together remains unclear. For now, the children and the desire to bridge the geographical and emotional gap continue to serve as strong focal points for potential reconciliation.
