A demonstration against the rising cost of living scheduled for Saturday, October 24, in Paris has been officially authorized by the Paris police prefecture. Organized primarily at the initiative of the CGT, the march will proceed from the symbolic Place de la Bastille to the Place de la Nation.

The gathering is set to begin at 2:00 p.m. in the 4th arrondissement. The procession will travel through parts of the 12th arrondissement, passing down the rue de Lyon, Place Félix Éboué, Boulevard de Reuilly, Boulevard de Picpus, and Avenue du Trône before concluding at the Place de la Nation.

The approved route differs from the itinerary initially requested by Yellow Vest participants, who had hoped to march from Bastille to the Place de l'Opéra via République. Authorities prohibited that path due to security concerns following widespread property damage and looting during previous weekend demonstrations, which affected at least 450 businesses in the capital.

In response to the risks, the Paris city hall urged residents to remain highly vigilant and recommended taking precautions such as bringing in outdoor furniture, bicycles, and trash bins. While the exact turnout remains uncertain, last week's demonstrations brought approximately 110,000 people into the streets of Paris.

In financial markets, several notable companies are approaching critical ex-dividend dates that require investors to purchase shares ahead of upcoming deadlines to secure their quarterly payouts. Paychex, Value Line, and FVCBankcorp all have ex-dividend dates scheduled for Monday, October 26, making Friday the final day for investors to buy in and qualify for those payments.

Paychex is set to distribute a $1.19 per share payment on November 25, yielding about 4.2% annually, though analysts note it maintains the tightest coverage among the group. Value Line declared a $0.35 quarterly dividend payable on November 10, backed by a moderate payout ratio, while FVCBankcorp offers a 1.6% yield with strong earnings coverage despite high concentration in commercial real estate loans in the Washington, D.C. area.
