Packers WR Christian Watson Returns to Stadium After Hospitalization
Green Bay wide receiver Christian Watson was cleared following precautionary hospital tests for a chest injury sustained during Thursday night's game against the Carolina Panthers.
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson was cleared to return to Lambeau Field during Thursday night's game against the Carolina Panthers after being transported to a local hospital for precautionary medical testing due to a chest injury. The team announced the update after halftime, listing him as questionable to return.
Watson sustained the injury during the second quarter following a 53-yard reception from quarterback Jordan Love. After making the catch, Watson landed hard on the ball, and Panthers cornerback Will Lee II collided with him during the tackle. Watson remained down on the field for several moments before walking off under his own power to the sideline medical tent.
Following his evaluation in the tent, Watson walked off the field and was seen getting into an ambulance to be transported off-site. Amazon Prime reporter Kaylee Hartung later reported during the broadcast that Watson successfully passed all medical testing at the hospital and headed back to the stadium before the conclusion of the contest.
Prior to exiting the game, Watson was putting together an exceptional performance, recording six receptions for 100 yards. With that production, his season totals reached 40 catches for 695 yards and six touchdowns, allowing him to eclipse his previous career-high in receiving yards only eight games into the year.
The fifth-year receiver has dealt with various injuries throughout his professional career, including missing time during his rookie season, playing in nine games in 2023, and suffering a torn ACL at the end of the 2024 campaign that caused him to miss the first seven games of the current season. Despite these past setbacks, he has emerged as one of the league's most productive wideouts this year.
The collision that sidelined Watson also impacted the Panthers' defense. Cornerback Will Lee II was injured on the same play, leaving the field on a cart and being listed as doubtful to return due to a hamstring injury.
