The Oklahoma City Thunder return to the Paycom Center on Thursday night to host the Denver Nuggets for their home opener. The matchup brings together two prominent Western Conference contenders in an early-season test, with tip-off scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Oklahoma City enters the contest with a 1-0 record following a strong 116-104 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday night. Star guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the charge with 32 points, building momentum after an impressive opening performance that showcased the team's depth and defensive capabilities.

Thursday marks the official season debut for the Denver Nuggets, who enter the year looking to reestablish themselves among the conference elite. Spearheaded by two-time league MVP Nikola Jokic and star guard Jamal Murray, the Nuggets return a core that also features Aaron Gordon and Christian Braun.

The historical matchup between these two franchises features plenty of intensity, highlighted by Oklahoma City's seven-game series victory in the second round of the 2025 NBA Playoffs. During the previous regular season, the teams split their four meetings, with Denver keeping both games in Oklahoma City within eight points.

Both teams announced their starting lineups ahead of the game. The Thunder starting five features Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Cason Wallace, Jalen Williams, Chet Holmgren, and Isaiah Hartenstein. Meanwhile, the Nuggets counter with a lineup consisting of Jamal Murray, Christian Braun, Cameron Johnson, Aaron Gordon, and Nikola Jokic.

Oddsmakers have positioned the Thunder as 7.5-point favorites at home, reflecting their status as co-favorites to win the NBA championship. Advanced models and analysts point to Oklahoma City's top-ranked defense and length in the frontcourt as key factors that could trouble Denver's half-court offense, especially following offseason roster changes for the visiting side.

Following Thursday's contest, the Oklahoma City Thunder will enjoy a couple of days off before preparing for a Sunday-Monday back-to-back at home, beginning with a matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers.
