The Oklahoma City Thunder have agreed to sign forward Dalen Terry to a two-year contract, according to a report from ESPN's Shams Charania on Tuesday. The addition brings much-needed wing depth to a severely depleted roster.

Terry, a 24-year-old former first-round selection, was selected 18th overall by the Chicago Bulls in the 2022 NBA Draft. Over his career split between Chicago and Philadelphia, he has averaged around 3.5 to 3.7 points per game. Last season, he appeared in 48 combined games, averaging 3.7 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists while shooting 43.9% from the field and 36.4% from beyond the arc. He most recently departed the Golden State Warriors' G League affiliate in Santa Cruz to join Oklahoma City.

The 6-foot-7 wing arrives as the Thunder navigate an unprecedented wave of injuries. Oklahoma City is currently missing several key contributors, including Chet Holmgren, who is recovering from a right knee injury, and Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace, both recovering from respective surgeries. Additional injuries to Alex Caruso, Thomas Sorber, and Nikola Topić have further stretched the team's rotation thin.

According to ESPN Research, the Thunder made history by becoming the first team in 50 years to have three starters suffer injuries in the same game and subsequently miss 20 or more consecutive games. Because of this mounting physical toll, Terry is expected to receive an opportunity to contribute immediately and log valuable minutes on the wing.

Terry fills the Thunder's 15th and final standard roster spot. Earlier, the franchise had reportedly intended to award that final spot to free agent Ochai Agbaji, but ultimately decided not to proceed with that plan following further injury assessments.

While exact financial terms of Terry's new agreement have not been officially announced by the organization, reports indicate the team aims to remain comfortably beneath the league's second apron threshold, where they sat roughly $6.9 million below prior to bringing him aboard. Filling the roster spot also provides the franchise with greater flexibility regarding two-way players and potential hardship exceptions.

On the court, analysts note that Terry brings size, athleticism, and defensive potential to the wing position. Playing alongside playmakers like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Ajay Mitchell, and Jared McCain could help streamline his decision-making and elevate his offensive consistency as the Thunder push through the regular season.
