National Savings and Investments Announces November Premium Bonds Winners
Two lucky savers from outer London and Shropshire secured the top £1 million jackpots in the November draw as the savings scheme celebrated its 70th anniversary.
National Savings and Investments (NS&I) has revealed the results of its November prize draw, awarding £1 million jackpots to two savers in outer London and Shropshire. The London winner secured the top prize from a £5,000 investment made in December 2010, holding a total of £30,000 in Premium Bonds. Meanwhile, the Shropshire winner captured the second million-dollar prize from a £48,990 purchase made in November 2025, holding the maximum permitted limit of £50,000.
The November draw also brought notable wins across Wales, including two £100,000 prizes distributed to regional savers. One recipient from Mid and South West Wales won with a bond purchased in March 2023, while another winner from North Wales claimed their prize using a bond bought in May 2016. Additionally, long-term participants celebrated victories, such as a South East Wales saver who won a £10,000 prize on a bond purchased nearly 50 years ago in July 1978.
Unlike traditional savings accounts, Premium Bonds do not pay regular interest. Instead, eligible bonds are entered into a monthly draw for tax-free prizes ranging from £25 up to the £1 million jackpot. Each £1 bond holds a unique number and an identical probability of winning. NS&I utilizes Electronic Random Number Indicator Equipment (ERNIE) to randomly generate winning numbers each month.
The organization currently maintains a variable annual prize fund rate of 4.35%, offering monthly odds of 21,000 to one for each eligible bond. These terms, which took effect in September 2026, replaced a previous rate of 3.80% and odds of 22,000 to one. Financial experts frequently remind savers that headline prize fund rates do not guarantee individual returns, as payouts depend entirely on random draws.
The November draw coincides with the 70th anniversary of Premium Bonds first going on sale in November 1956. Andrew Westhead, NS&I retail director, marked the milestone by stating, "Seventy years ago in November 1956, the first Premium Bonds went on sale, marking the beginning of what has become one of the nation’s best-loved savings products." He added that it is fantastic to celebrate the anniversary alongside two new millionaires and millions of other participants.
Participants can check whether their numbers were selected using the official NS&I prize checker online or via the mobile application. Winnings can be automatically deposited directly into a designated bank account or reinvested into additional bonds, provided the total holding remains under the £50,000 threshold. Reinvested prizes automatically qualify for participation in the subsequent monthly draw.
