The UEFA Champions League continues as Napoli takes on Porto away at the Estádio do Dragão. Both teams enter the fixture looking to strengthen their positions in the tournament's league phase standings, with the Italian side aiming to recover momentum following a recent Serie A loss against Juventus.

Napoli manager Massimiliano Allegri spoke about the difficulties of the fixture prior to kickoff, noting that his team faced ongoing challenges with player availability. Ahead of the match, sporting director Giovanni Manna addressed the media regarding the squad's physical setbacks and clarified the club's strategy for the upcoming transfer window. Manna stated that while the team would evaluate opportunities in January, the attacking department remains the area where they are fully covered.

For the crucial European encounter, Allegri deployed a starting lineup featuring Meret in goal, protected by a defensive trio of Beukema, Rrahmani, and Rafa Marin. The midfield and attacking sections included Politano, Anguissa, Gilmour, McTominay, Vergara, De Bruyne, and Hojlund. Porto countered with a tactical setup managed under Farioli, utilizing players such as Diogo Costa, Bednarek, Kiwior, and Gabriel Veiga.

The match began with intense action as the hosts pressed early, resulting in an opening goal by Bednarek in the 11th minute. Despite facing mounting pressure and several early yellow cards issued to the visiting squad, Napoli responded before halftime when McTominay found the back of the net to equalize.

In the second half, the Portuguese side re-established their lead with sustained pressure and further goals, including a strike from Kiwior that extended the advantage. Despite tactical changes by Allegri, who introduced substitutes later in the half, the defense struggled to contain Porto's attacking transitions as the hosts secured a 3-1 victory.

Prior to the senior team's fixture, the clubs' youth squads also met in the UEFA Youth League at Porto's training ground. The home side's youth team secured a 3-1 win over Napoli's Primavera squad, with Christian Liccardo scoring for the visiting youth side during the afternoon match.
