Law enforcement authorities in Salamanca, Spain, have arrested a man on suspicion of fraud after he allegedly filed a false police report regarding unauthorized charges on his bank card. Investigators determined that the suspect had actually withdrawn the funds himself at a local entertainment venue in an attempt to recover gambling losses.

The sequence of events began in July, when the cardholder visited an arcade in the city. According to police reports, he executed three separate cash withdrawals on July 23, amounting to 100, 500, and 500 euros, respectively. He returned to the same establishment the following day to withdraw an additional 200 euros, bringing the total sum extracted to 1,300 euros.

Days after completing the transactions, the man visited a police station to report that his card had remained in his possession at all times and that the operations had been executed without his consent. He subsequently submitted a formal claim to his financial institution demanding a full refund for the allegedly fraudulent activity.

An investigation was immediately launched following the complaint. However, detectives reviewing the case quickly discovered discrepancies that pointed back to the cardholder himself, confirming that he was the person who performed the withdrawals at the gambling establishment.

Authorities noted that the maneuver was devised as a method to recoup money lost during gambling activities. Once law enforcement established that the fraud report was fabricated, they located the suspect and placed him under arrest for an alleged crime of fraud.

Following the completion of the necessary administrative and documentary procedures at the police station, the detained individual was turned over to the judicial authorities for further legal proceedings.
