Malappuram FC Secures Historic Victory Against Kannur Warriors

Malappuram FC achieved a historic milestone by defeating the Kannur Warriors 3-0 in front of a packed home crowd at Manjeri Payyanad Stadium, marking their first-ever victory against Kannur in Super League Kerala history.

Prior to this matchup, the two teams had met four times across previous seasons. Kannur held the upper hand with two victories, while the remaining two fixtures concluded in draws. Breaking this long-standing winless streak brought immense joy to the home supporters.

The breakthrough arrived in the 19th minute of the match when Sukoon opened the scoring for the hosts. Bypassing the visitor's defensive line, the forward chipped the ball expertly over the goalkeeper to break the deadlock and send the stadium into celebration.

Just before the halftime whistle, Malappuram doubled its advantage during added time. Mehdi capitalized on a rebound inside the penalty area following a corner kick, striking a powerful shot that extended the lead to two goals.

The result was put beyond doubt in the 66th minute when Rashid C.K. added a third goal for the home side. Collecting a pass inside the penalty box, he slotted the ball firmly into the net to complete the comprehensive shutout.

Statistically, the hosts dominated the flow of the game, registering 13 total shots with four on target. Conversely, Kannur struggled to break through Malappuram's defense, managing ten total shots with only a single effort testing the home goalkeeper.

Following this decisive triumph, Malappuram FC prepares to face Calicut FC on November 1. Supporters will be hoping the team can maintain its winning momentum and overcome another historical hurdle in the upcoming Malabar Derby.
