The Los Angeles Lakers tipped off the 2026-27 NBA season in impressive fashion on Wednesday night, securing a 127-105 victory against the Golden State Warriors at Crypto.com Arena. The game marked the beginning of a new era for Los Angeles following the departure of LeBron James, establishing Luka Doncic as the clear centerpiece of the franchise.

Doncic controlled the flow of the contest with stellar playmaking and scoring, finishing the night with 28 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. His standout moment came at the end of the first half when he sank a dramatic half-court buzzer-beater to give the Lakers a 66-52 advantage heading into the locker room.

New center Walker Kessler delivered a spectacular debut for Los Angeles, contributing 26 points and nine rebounds while converting all 12 of his field goal attempts. Kessler's dominant interior presence created major difficulties for Golden State's defense and provided Doncic with a reliable target near the basket.

Austin Reaves also played a pivotal role in the offensive explosion, chipping in 23 points and six assists. Meanwhile, reserves Quentin Grimes and Jake LaRavia each added 10 points off the bench, highlighting a balanced scoring effort throughout the Lakers' rotation.

Golden State initially threatened to keep the game close, fueled by Stephen Curry scoring 16 points in the opening quarter alone. Curry concluded the evening with 23 points, but the Warriors ultimately failed to sustain their early momentum against a relentless Los Angeles squad.

The turning point arrived in the middle quarters as the Lakers outscored the visitors 32-19 in the second period before exploding for a 36-16 advantage in the third. That dominant stretch extended the Los Angeles lead to 102-68 as the game entered the final quarter, effectively putting the contest out of reach.

With a convincing 22-point victory to start the campaign, the Lakers showcased their potential under head coach JJ Redick. While adjustments remain ahead for the roster, the dominant opening-night performance establishes a promising foundation for the season.
