Four members of the same family, including two toddlers, died on Sunday afternoon when their vehicle veered off a provincial road in the municipality of Malva, located in the province of Zamora, Spain. The tragic accident occurred shortly before 2:00 PM on the ZA-P-2314 highway.

According to the Civil Guard and municipal sources, the victims were residents of the nearby town of Aspariegos, which has a population of approximately 220 people. The deceased include the 59-year-old vehicle owner, his 29-year-old daughter, and two children aged two and three years old. Relatives and local authorities confirmed they belonged to the same immediate household.

The fatal incident took place at around kilometer 16 of the roadway. For reasons that remain under investigation, the passenger car left the right side of the asphalt on a straight section of the route and crashed violently into a concrete drainage structure.

The Castile and León emergency dispatch service, 1-1-2, received an initial call alerting them to a vehicle departure involving three injured individuals trapped inside. In response, authorities deployed the Traffic Civil Guard, firefighters from Toro, and emergency health services, which included a basic life support ambulance and a medicalized helicopter.

Firefighters from the Zamora Provincial Consortium had to perform complex extraction work at the scene, cutting through the roof of the wreckage to reach the occupants. Despite the rapid arrival and intervention of the medical teams, emergency personnel could only confirm that all four victims had perished from the impact.

Alfonso Ibáñez, the Provincial Head of Traffic in Zamora, emphasized the severity of the crash, stating that "it is a terribly hard impact, if we add to that the location of the blow, what it hit, and the speed at which the vehicle was traveling or depending on where it left the road and where it struck, fatality was almost assured."

Regional leaders expressed their sorrow over the tragedy as news spread across the community. Alfonso Fernández Mañueco, the president of Castile and León, posted a statement on social media expressing that he was deeply moved by the incident and extending his affection and closeness to the grieving family members and loved ones during their time of profound pain. The Provincial Council of Zamora also offered its condolences, while the bodies of the victims were transferred to the Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences.
