Dream11 Co-Founder Harsh Jain Hints at New Platform Launch by Late December

Dream Sports leadership prepares for a fresh phase following regulatory shifts and ongoing tax challenges.

Dream11 co-founder and CEO Harsh Jain has indicated that the prominent fantasy sports platform plans to introduce a revamped version by the end of December 2026. Writing on the social media platform X, Jain stated that the redesigned platform is being built "by sports fans and for sports fans," though he did not disclose specific details regarding its features, business model, or exact debut date.

The upcoming introduction follows significant regulatory changes in the online gaming sector. More than a year after the implementation of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act of 2025, which prohibited real-money online games and restricted promotional advertising, Dream11 discontinued its paid contests. The company subsequently transitioned into a watch-along platform that allows users to follow gameplay hosted by prominent content creators.

Parent company Dream Sports has historically explored various business verticals beyond fantasy sports, including wealthtech, stockbroking, and software-as-a-service. However, the firm has scaled back several of those auxiliary ventures, shutting down services such as Dream Money, FanCode's merchandise business, and its artificial intelligence-driven sports analytics application, Dream Play. Despite these rollbacks, the corporate portfolio still retains operations like the FanCode sports streaming service, DreamCricket, and the investment platform DreamStreet.

In addition to shifting business models, the company continues to manage substantial regulatory and financial hurdles. Earlier this year, the Supreme Court of India upheld a decision by tax authorities to impose a 28 percent retrospective Goods and Services Tax on online real-money gaming companies, calculated using the full face value of bets placed on their platforms. This ruling left Dream11 facing tax dues exceeding 20 billion rupees.

The prospective launch of the new platform arrives at a critical juncture for Dream Sports as it attempts to navigate the post-legislation landscape. While the company's executive leadership remains tight-lipped about the functional mechanics of the upcoming service, the announcement signals an ongoing effort to redefine its offerings in the competitive digital sports market.

Industry observers note that the renewed focus on fan-centric digital experiences could chart a different course for the brand. As December approaches, users and market analysts will be watching closely to see how the revamped platform addresses the strict regulatory frameworks now governing digital gaming and entertainment in the region.
