Detroit Pistons Defeat Charlotte Hornets 124-91 Behind Cade Cunningham
The Pistons dominated the visiting Hornets on Monday night with sharp outside shooting and a stellar 33-point performance from Cade Cunningham.
The Detroit Pistons secured a 124-91 victory against the Charlotte Hornets at the Spectrum Center on Monday night. Driven by strong perimeter shooting and an impressive offensive display, the Pistons swept their back-to-back weekly matchups against their Eastern Conference opponents.
Cade Cunningham led the charge for Detroit with 33 points, shooting 13-for-20 from the field including four three-pointers. He also contributed a game-high seven assists, orchestrating an offense that consistently found gaps in the Charlotte defense.
Detroit excelled from beyond the arc throughout the contest, finishing 18-for-37 on three-point attempts. Duncan Robinson added 24 points for the visitors, heating up significantly in the fourth quarter and sinking six shots from long range. Other contributors included Ausar Thompson with 14 points, while Paul Reed and Ronald Holland II each chipped in 11 points.
The win improved the Pistons' road record to 4-1 as they continue a strong start to the season despite missing starting center Jalen Duren due to a hamstring injury. Detroit used a dominant 33-21 scoring advantage in the third quarter to pull away, turning Hornets turnovers into transition points and extending their lead to as many as 30 points.
Brandon Miller paced the Hornets with 17 points, though it marked his second-lowest scoring output of the season. Naz Reid added 13 points, while Sion James and Grayson Allen each scored 11 points for a Charlotte squad that struggled to find its offensive rhythm.
The game featured the season debut of Charlotte guard Coby White, who missed the first seven games of the campaign due to a calf injury. Playing under 16 minutes after returning to the lineup, White recorded seven points.
Perimeter shooting ultimately defined the disparity between the two teams. While Detroit connected on over 50 percent of its attempts from beyond the arc, Charlotte managed only 13 makes out of 44 tries from long distance. The loss extended the Hornets' losing streak to four games as they continue to navigate early-season roster adjustments.
