Construction work begins on November 9, bringing temporary traffic restrictions, detours, and specific waste collection guidelines for local residents.

The expansion of the district heating supply in Burghausen is moving forward with upcoming construction work on Marktler Straße. Beginning Monday, November 9, crews will begin installing a new heating pipeline to establish the necessary infrastructure to connect additional buildings to regional geothermal energy in the future.

The project is being carried out by Fahrner Bau GmbH on behalf of Energieversorgung Burghausen GmbH (EBG). Work is scheduled to last through Friday, December 18. According to the city of Burghausen, the timeline was chosen to integrate the heating network expansion ahead of planned road reconstruction for the upcoming Campus-Viertel development in late winter, thereby preventing duplicate construction efforts.

To accommodate the excavation and pipeline installation, Marktler Straße will be completely closed to through traffic between the Engl intersection near Robert-Koch-Straße and the Münzloher intersection near Elisabethstraße. Additionally, minor narrowing is expected near the Engl intersection due to the installation of a specialized T-fitting.

Marked detours will reroute traffic around the construction zone. Vehicles will be directed from Marktler Straße via Elisabethstraße, Johannes-Hess-Straße, and Wackerstraße to Robert-Koch-Straße, before returning to Marktler Straße through the Engl intersection.

Access for local residents and specific businesses will remain partially available under specific regulations. The driveway to the parking lots for Kitchen One and the campus will remain accessible from the Münzloher intersection, and vehicles will still be able to exit the Edeka parking lot toward the same intersection.

Directly affected residents have been notified in writing by the utility provider. While the city and EBG aim to minimize disruptions, the project will bring localized construction noise and potential restrictions regarding property accessibility.

Local waste management will also be adjusted during the construction period. Residents living within the affected zone are required to place their standard waste bins and yellow sacks outside the active construction area to ensure the municipal collection services can pick them up.

To address community concerns, EBG will host regular on-site informational office hours exclusively for impacted residents, providing a direct channel to ask questions regarding the construction schedule and local traffic limitations.
