Birmingham City Hosts Millwall in EFL Championship Match
Birmingham City prepares to face Millwall at St Andrew's on Tuesday evening in the EFL Championship.
Birmingham City is set to host Millwall this Tuesday at St Andrew's @ Knighthead Park for round 14 of the EFL Championship season. Both teams enter the fixture following victories in their previous outings, looking to build momentum in the league standings.
Managed by Chris Davies, Birmingham City currently sits in the upper portion of the table with 23 points. The Blues head into this midweek encounter after securing a 3-1 victory against Lincoln City, marking their fourth win in their last five matches across all competitions.
On the other side, Millwall travels to St Andrew's under the guidance of manager Alex Neil. The Lions occupy 12th position in the Championship standings with 18 points, having recently rebounded from a three-game winless run with a convincing 4-1 triumph over Derby County.
Reflecting on the upcoming challenge, Neil acknowledged the difficulty of facing a side sitting near the top of the table. However, he emphasized that his squad historically thrives when facing external doubts away from home.
“It’s going to take a big effort to go to Birmingham,” Neil stated. “Birmingham are doing well just now. But let’s be honest, in the last sort of twenty months since I’ve been here, that’s normally been our bread and butter. Going somewhere where everybody writes us off and turning in a good performance. So hopefully we can try and do it again.”
Millwall will be forced to make adjustments to their lineup, as midfielder Jenson Metcalfe is unavailable for selection due to suspension. Metcalfe picked up his fifth yellow card of the season late in the match against Derby County, drawing disappointment from his manager regarding the timing of the booking.
“Naturally, I’m disappointed that we’re going to lose Jenson for that game,” Neil said regarding the suspension. “I thought it was a needless booking at a time when it just didn’t need to be done. But he’s a young lad. He’s a young player. He’s trying to learn his trade.”
The historical fixture between these two clubs includes notable results from previous campaigns. Millwall secured a 3-0 victory in their most recent meeting in February 2026, while Birmingham City previously claimed a 4-0 win at home against the Lions in November 2025. Tuesday's match referee will be David Webb, assisted by Andrew Dallison and Nigel Lugg, with Elliot Bell serving as the fourth official.
