Bambu Lab Announces New H3C 3D Printer Featuring a Tool Changer System

The upcoming flagship device will include nine tools and aims to offer faster multi-color and multi-material printing with less waste.

Bambu Lab has officially announced the upcoming launch of its new flagship 3D printer, the H3C, scheduled for November 3. The company promises that the new machine will serve as a game changer in the desktop manufacturing market by incorporating a dedicated tool changer system rather than the nozzle-swapping mechanisms seen in previous iterations.

The new device joins Bambu Lab's H-line of flagship printers, following previous models such as the H2S, H2D, and the H2C. While the H2C utilized a Vortex-style intelligent hotend-swapping system with six nozzles to support up to seven colors or materials, the H3C takes a different approach by adopting a full tool changer mechanism.

Promotional materials released by the company use the tagline "Tool Changer. Game Changer." and reveal that the printer will feature nine tools. According to industry observations, the setup includes nine colorful Bowden tools arching over the top of the machine, with a front-mounted rack designed to hold tools that are not currently in use.

Prior to the official announcement, details regarding the H3C surfaced online when an accidental promotional banner appeared on the Australian Bambu Lab online store and was subsequently shared on Reddit by users. While the banner briefly listed a November 4 presentation date, the official launch schedule has since been set for November 3.

Industry experts note that tool-changing systems can provide significant advantages over traditional multi-material setups, such as the company's existing AMS system. These benefits include faster switching times between different colors and materials, alongside a reduction in the amount of wasted filament typically generated during nozzle purging.

Despite the growing anticipation, official specifications, build volumes, and pricing details remain under wraps. Analysts anticipate that the H3C will command a higher price point than the H2C, which launched with a $2,200 price tag for its AMS Combo variant, though full details are expected to be disclosed during the official unveiling.
