Atlético Bucaramanga and Atlético Nacional tied 1-1 on Monday, November 2, at the Américo Montanini Stadium in the 17th round of the Liga BetPlay II-2026 tournament. Both teams entered the match with their spots in the final playoffs all but secured, yet delivered a competitive fixture that ultimately ended in a shared point.

The visiting side needed only six minutes to take the lead. Following a handball inside the penalty box by Nilson Castrillón, referee Jhon Ospina awarded a penalty kick to Nacional. Midfielder Edwin Cardona stepped up and drove a powerful shot past Uruguayan goalkeeper Cristopher Fiermarín to make it 1-0.

Conceding an early goal forced Bucaramanga to alter its tactical approach. The home team sought an equalizer through the creative playmaking of Fabián Sambueza and attacks down the flanks, while Nacional tried to exploit open spaces on the counterattack. During this phase, veteran goalkeeper Franco Armani made several crucial saves to preserve the visitor's advantage.

Bucaramanga faced additional adversity during the first half due to physical setbacks. Castrillón had to be substituted for Aldair Gutiérrez, and a subsequent injury to Fabry Castro forced manager Leonel Alvarez to bring on Aldair Zárate. Despite these hurdles, the home side maintained pressure and looked for ways to challenge the visiting defense.

In the second half, the Leopardo advanced their lines and took greater offensive risks. Although Nacional maintained periods of control and created scoring chances that tested Fiermarín, the home team's persistence finally paid off in the 75th minute when Sambueza was fouled inside the box by Richard Ríos, resulting in a second penalty of the night.

Luciano Pons took the responsibility for the spot-kick and successfully deceived Armani to level the score at 1-1. The goal injected high intensity into the final stretch of the match as both clubs searched for a late winner, but outstanding defensive work and key saves by Fiermarín kept the scoreline level until the final whistle.

Following the draw, Bucaramanga prepares to face Jaguares in Montería on Sunday at 4:10 p.m., while Atlético Nacional is scheduled to play against Pereira on Saturday, November 7, after 6:10 p.m.
