Applications Open for the 2026 Working Mothers Bonus in Italy
Eligible employed and self-employed mothers can now submit applications to INPS for financial support totaling up to 720 euros.
Applications are officially open for the working mothers bonus, offering an income supplement for eligible women throughout the upcoming year. The Italian Social Security Institute announced that its online portal is active for submission, providing financial assistance to qualified employees and independent workers.
The subsidy provides 60 euros per month for every month or partial month in which an employment or self-employed contract is active. The total benefit can reach up to 720 euros overall across twelve monthly installments, provided applicants meet specific family and income criteria.
To qualify for the program, mothers must meet strict criteria concerning their number of children and family income. The benefit is designated for mothers with two children, where the youngest is under ten years old, or mothers with at least three children, where the youngest is a minor under eighteen. Additionally, the annual employment or self-employed income of the applicant must not exceed 40,000 euros.
The benefit covers both public and private sector employees as well as independent workers, though domestic workers are excluded from the program. The official deadline to submit requests through the digital service platform or via the multicanale contact center is December 31, 2026. An extension to January 31, 2027, is available for mothers who fulfill the requirements during December.
Payment schedules depend on processing timelines managed by the agency. If reviews are completed in time, funds covering the full period between January and December will be issued in a single lump sum in December alongside that month's standard disbursement. Applications that remain under review at the end of the year will see disbursements processed starting in January 2027 once evaluations conclude.
Meanwhile, unrelated news highlights other events across the country, including a medical emergency involving a 32-year-old external worker who collapsed outside a business facility in Quinzano d'Oglio, prompting a response from emergency air rescue and local authorities. In the academic and cultural community, grief surrounds the passing of Claudia Musio, a 45-year-old employee at the University of Cagliari and author, alongside the death of Carlo Papi, an 80-year-old former municipal employee and political figure in Tuscany.
