British theme park Alton Towers has announced the immediate and permanent closure of its World of David Walliams attraction. The resort stated that the decision was finalized following the conclusion of its 2026 peak season and a regular review of rides and experiences across the property.

The themed land, which originally opened to the public in 2021, featured various attractions and locations inspired by the children's author's popular books. Among the installations removed are Gangsta Granny: The Ride, Raj's Bouncy Bottom Burp, The Royal Carousel, alongside Raj's Shop and The Burger Kitchen.

Merlin Entertainments, the owner of Alton Towers, explained in a statement that operational factors and guest experience considerations drove the shutdown. Officials noted that future plans for the vacant space will be formally announced once they are confirmed.

The closure arrives amid a series of professional setbacks for the author. Publisher HarperCollins severed ties with David Walliams in December 2025 following an investigation into allegations that he had harassed young women. Walliams has strongly denied any inappropriate behavior.

A spokesperson for the comedian and author stated regarding the publisher's decision that David had never been informed of any allegations raised against him by HarperCollins. The representative added that he was not party to any investigation or given any opportunity to answer questions, and that he was taking legal advice.

In addition to the publisher dropping him, talent agency YMU and Walliams are no longer in a commercial relationship, following amicable discussions earlier in the year. His profile has also been removed from the agency's official website.

Walliams remains a prominent figure in British entertainment, having co-created the comedy series Little Britain and served as a judge on Britain's Got Talent for a decade before stepping down in 2022. Representatives for Walliams have been approached for comment regarding the theme park closure.
