Borussia Mönchengladbach head coach Alexander Blessin celebrated his first Bundesliga victory with the club on Friday evening, overcoming a six-match losing streak with a 3-2 comeback win against VfB Stuttgart. The match, held at the MHPArena in Stuttgart, marked a significant emotional milestone for the 53-year-old manager, who returned to his hometown for the fixture with family members in attendance.

The victory was particularly crucial for the team, as it prevented Borussia Mönchengladbach from becoming the first Bundesliga side to lose their opening seven matches of the season. Despite the win, the club remains at the bottom of the league table, facing a difficult path ahead as they attempt to improve their standing in the competition.

The match began with an early setback for the visitors when Ermedin Demirovic scored for Stuttgart in the fifth minute. However, Mönchengladbach responded with three goals from Joe Scally, Shuto Machino, and Wael Mohya to take the lead. Although Demirovic added a second goal for the hosts in the 83rd minute, the visitors held on to secure the three points.

Reflecting on the performance, Blessin praised the fighting spirit of his squad. "This is the third time we have come back from a deficit, but this time we managed to turn it around in the end," Blessin stated. He noted that after the early goal, the team maintained their structure and gained confidence, which allowed them to play effectively for the remainder of the match.

Following the final whistle, Blessin visited with his family in the stands but quickly shifted his focus back to professional responsibilities. During the post-match press conference, he emphasized that the location of the win was secondary to the necessity of securing points. "I am simply happy for the team," he remarked. "To be perfectly honest, I really do not care where the points come from. It is nice that the family is here and that we can celebrate together. But what matters for us as a club is getting these three points."

Looking ahead, the team has little time for celebration as they prepare for an upcoming DFB-Pokal fixture against Karlsruher SC. Blessin confirmed that the squad would remain in Stuttgart overnight before returning to their training base to begin preparations. He stressed that there would be no time off for the players, as maintaining their current performance level requires immediate and focused training.

The win provides a much-needed boost for a team that has struggled with injuries and a difficult start to the season. While the victory is a positive step, Blessin remains cautious, noting that the team must not become complacent. "The important thing is that we are now starting to collect points, and everyone can see that this team is still alive," he said. "However, we must not become complacent; we must continue to play in the same way."
